Ending a long ride

As the 20%  projects wind down for class, mine is seeing more and more of a future. I recently found out that a different group of people run the Western National Round up for hippology. I send my previous national email to them and I'm hoping they will be more willing to change. I do think it's strange that there are two national horse competitions. If there are two is it really "national"? Plus your, for example, 10th place person at the western competition could be better than your 1st place person at the eastern competition and since they are so hot and heavy about being the best, and not about education, I don't understand why they think it's acceptable. The way they do hippology now is not pushing more for education, but rather to find the best of the best which is not what 4-H is about. It really bothers me that they are more worried about winning then the education aspect of the competition. 4-H is about education, the competitions are a side part of it NOT the main component of it. (ok rant over). On a better note, I have found almost all hippology/horse program websites for all  50 states. I believe I only have 16 left to find! And on an even better note  I got to learn how to drive with Toby at a mini clinic that one of the 4-H moms did. It was soooooo cool!!

k3 = -M [v²A (Δl2) +2Aηg -λ1( ax +ay)]/ (λ1C +λ3A) (1) The Physics of Horse Jumping

As we come down to the final weeks of the 20% project things are getting crazy. Yesterday was the AP Physics exam which, to say it nicely, made mw want to go home, sit on the couch, open up a gallon of cookie dough ice cream, watch Grey's Anatomy on Neflix and cry.(ok maybe I'm beeing a little dramatic). With my project I'm continueing to work on the website and have added buttons to link every state to its hippology or horse program. Adding all the buttons took forever. I'm figureing out more how to use wix to create my site and have figure out how to make links to pages through button and such. I have also found out wh othe equine specialist is of NYS 4-H and sent her my email asking about changeing the state's hippology structure. On a side note, Sunday was Maria's first horse show!! I'm so excited that it is finally warm enough (and dry enough) to ride everyday. Maybe I can do some research with my horse and go to a clinician and do a video.

Got a responce! But on the down side I can't change anything on the National level but on the postitve side I can try to change things at the state level!

Change in Stride

So, I still have no responce from the Hippology people so some further action will need to be taken. In the meantime I have been working on my website that had been put on hold. I have created quite a few tabs and hae started to add credible websites from universities that have horse judging clubs or are 4-H extensions like Cornell. I have even found a few site that I'm really excited about useful myself! I'm thinking that my final product is going to be my site which I will continue to work on and improve after the 20% Project ends. With how busy I am becomeing I think doing my own videos will get put on hold but I hope to create some, possibley during the summer.  I would also like to continue to promote my ouyline of Hippology and maybe in the future I will be able to get them to try it out.

Le cheval

Bonjour! *bisou* So, my project went on a little bit of a brake due to my adventure in France with a few fellow bloggers, including a brotatoe, dunkin dolphin, limelight and Emily the signer. France was a lot of fun and I even got to go to a horse show with my host family. Since sending out the letter I have not gotten any responses back :( but, I have sent out a note to the people to see if they even received my email. If I don't get anything back by then, I am planning to call the people and see if I can get a hold of them that way ( I  can be very persistent). I'm thinking about contacting come of the horse associations to see if they will help with information for my site that has an official source rather then it being for some random 4-H girl. Hopefully things will be in full swing by the end of the week.

The Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Jerseys....Oh My

So between preparing for my trip to France, school, 4-H and everything else in my life not as much has gotten done, as I hoped, with my project. The very final touches are being done of my letter and it will hopefully be sent out tomorrow morning. I really have been working hard making it just right. I also got contact info on a guy in nearby who does horse judging. I'm hopeing to talk to him soon and see if he is willing to do some videos of confirmation/ halter classes. Two weekend ago was my regions Hippology contest in which my senior team placed first. The first picture is of my fellow team mates and I. This past weekend I went to a dairy judging clinic up at Cornell. I really liked the way they went through everything and demonstrated how to judge dairy cows. I going to try to use the same tactics in the horse judging videos.

ATTENTION BLOG READERS!!!!!!!

My letter is finally done and will hopefully be sent out tomorrow. This is more of an announcement post (my normal post will come later this weekend). I would like to announce that the brotatoes said that i can dye their hair different colors (red, blue, purple, etc.) and keep it in for at least 2 1/2 weeks if  I can raise $200 to go towards their project. Any body who wishes to see this happen can help by donating to the cause. I mean who doesn't want to see Evan, Jason, Colin, and Tyler walking around with crazy colored hair. If anyone has a donation find me and please spread the word. It's for two good causes.

Maiden Mares

An update on my expedition to Rocky: Saturday night I went to see the Vestal musical, Big Fish, which was done very well, and then ventured to Orion's house for Rocky. I did recruit a dear friend of mine to go with me and all I can say is that we are now eternally bonded for life. Orion sold us out and told them we hadn't gone before so we got a "V" on our heads and had an "interesting" experience.

Horsing Around with Limglight

Another week has gone by with my 20% project. This past week I kept working on editing my, which I'm hoping to finish by the end of the weekend for another round of edits. I have also started contacting people for videos. So far I've got approval with the head polo coach at Cornell to shoot a video that includes an interview with himself, a team member going over the different shots, and a sample polo game. I'm hoping next week I will be able to do the video. I have also tired to contact  a local lady who wrote one of the official sources for hippology but I haven't had any luck with that yet. On Monday I found the contact for the Cornell Equine Hospital and I am going to try to do a field trip there one day. I'm thinking that they may have horses there with some of the actual problems that you need to learn about in Hippology. Tonight I am going to the local Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Cinema Saver to support Orion in his 20% project. He is writing an erotic novel and you can check out his blog at http://limelightlive.blogspot.com/2015/02/limelight-live-05-this-lime-is-rocky.html . It will definitely be an interesting experience for me. This is Juanita, one of the Cornell polo ponies.

Wintery Warmbloods

Since my last post I have gotten back my paper from the great Sir Reverand Knighted Dr. Morris and have begun looking at his corrects he has made and perfecting my letter. So far things are going well. Not a lot has gotten done otherwise ( I seem to be busier during break than I at during the normal school days) and currently I am at a 4-H shooting sports training to become a Jr. shooting sports instructure. And we are shooting in -10 degree weather which is not fun. Some of the training techniques I may be able to incorporate into how to set up hippology better.

Spying Saddlebreds

It seems like my project has a lot more of "stalking" and tracing down people then I had imagined. It took me a good 40 minutes to find a way to email one of the people who is on the national hippology board. I couldn't find an email for the specific person so I have an alternate way of getting the email to her. I found the 4-H county she works in and I am going  to send the email to that extension office and then see if they can forward the email to her. Crossing my fingers that it will all go as planned. I also gave the new draft of my persuasive letter to the one and only Sir. Mr. Dr. Reverend Professor Morris to give me some feed back. Things are going well. (Sneaky pony, Athena, pretending she's not paying attention)

Trotting Along

So far my project has been going very well with very little problems. Lately I have been doing a lot of planning for my letter and website. I now (theoretically) have a way to contact all of the people who are in charge of the contest at the national level and have started finding contact info for a list I composed of people that I would like to interview  for educational videos. I also looked into creating a website and I decided to start with creating one on wix.com. It's nice because it connects to my google account and seems to have a lot of options so I can lay it out exactly how I want it. I'm hoping this weekend to get at least the home page layed out and then start on some of the other tabs. I also plan on reworking my persuasive letter. Also found some cool horse tail braiding on my searches.

Pony Persuasion

So to start my project off on this fine regents day, that I have no school, I have begun to write my persuasive letter to the people who are in charge of the national competition. It is a very rough draft but the kinks will get worked out before it is sent. I also had to find the email addresses for the people individually since the Nationals website does some weird whacky way to send them emails that I rather not deal with. I am still on the hunt for one more person's email which I hopefully will be able to find. It's nice when they work at universities so I can find there work email address easily. And as I sit here in the YMCA lobby, I have also started compiling a list of people in the area that I can interview to make educational videos to help with hippology studying. ( I have decided to also possibly make a YouTube channel/ website with helpful videos and links to study from. )

My Project

Hello and welcome to my 20% project blog. For my project I am trying to get the way the national 4H hippology curriculum is layed out. By changeing it, I would like to make the lay out more doable by have 2 or 3 main books used every year and have set topics that 80% of the questions will be on. The other 20% of the questions will be from the other sources and can be from any topic. This will wean out the people who are not as knowledgeable. By haveing set topics it gives 4h members a basis to go on and allows them to really learn the topics instead on just skim the surface of them, which doesn't do one much good in the contest. On a side note, hippology is the study of horses and is s contest that goes up to the national level in 4H.
